Job Summary
An Onsite Technician II performs technical duties associated with air quality, storm water, hazardous materials programs, and sustainability programs. This position will support operations for ACTenviro by conducting environmental services and collections while observing safety protocols.
Accountabilities
- Maintains good working relationship with client by providing information regarding regulations, assisting in the completion of compliance questionnaires, answering general questions, etc., to encourage cooperation and promote and encourage compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ability to lead a team of Technical Specialists on customer projects
- Conducts inspections of industrial operations, construction sites, and other facilities as required
- Packages, loads, and ships hazardous waste, including biological waste.
- Clearly documents regulatory findings and corrective actions
- Label and organize containers in compliance with all regulations
- Leading an emergency response team to mitigate emergencies
- Conducts fieldwork including collecting solid and liquid waste samples and operates sampling equipment.
- Attend and maintain all required training necessary to perform job
- Perform safe work practices involving chemical, radiological, and bioactive agents
- Availability to work weekends and extended hours as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Ability to lift, pull or push up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Ability to kneel, crawl or reach
- Ability to wear level B or C PPE for extended period of time
- Have a commercial class C/B vehicle license with hazmat and tanker endorsement and drive
- 3 years clean driving record
- High level of understanding about the hazardous waste and universal waste regulations, 40CFR, 49CFR, and CCR Title 22
- Ability to work collaboratively, efficiently, and effectively
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Ability to pass a pre-employment background screen, physical, and drug-screen
Education/Experience
- High school education or equivalent
- Advanced degree in environmental management is desired
- Experience with the California CERS program
- 3 years previous experience packaging hazardous materials and waste; DOT and IATA experience
- 3 years previous experience decontaminating items contaminated with chemicals
- 3 years previous experience handling and transporting hazardous materials and waste
- Successfully completed HAZWOPER 40 hour (must have copies if certified), CSTI training a plus
