Patient Care Coordinator – Workers' Compensation
Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and organized Patient Care Coordinator to join our team and specialize in managing Ohio Workers' Compensation cases. This role ensures seamless coordination of care for injured workers, acting as the primary point of contact between patients, healthcare providers, employers, and insurance companies. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, an understanding of Ohio BWC workers' compensation processes, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Support: Serve as the primary liaison for injured workers, ensuring they understand their care plan, treatment options, and progress.
- Case Management: Oversee the full lifecycle of workers' compensation cases, from initial injury reporting to treatment follow-up and claim resolution.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Schedule appointments, treatments, and follow-ups with healthcare providers, ensuring timely care and compliance with workers' compensation requirements.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of MCO and employer interactions, patient treatment plans, and case updates in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
- Communication: Collaborate with physicians, therapists, case managers, employers, and attorneys offices to ensure coordinated care and resolve any issues promptly.
- Education: Educate patients on their rights, responsibilities, and the workers' compensation process to help them make informed decisions about their care.
- Compliance: Ensure all OBWC documentation such as FROI, C23, C9 and Medco-14’s are correctly completed and filed in a timely manner and adhere to OBWC regulations governing workers' compensation.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required; associate's or bachelor's degree would be preferred but not necessary.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years in healthcare coordination, case management, or a related role.
- Experience with OBWC workers' compensation cases strongly preferred.
- Skills:
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in medical terminology and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of OBWC workers' compensation rules and regulations is a plus.
- Other: Compassionate, patient-focused attitude with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based role with occasional travel to satellite clinics and patient sites.
- May involve extended periods of computer use and phone communication.
