Qualifications and Skills:
- Experienced in medical billing and coding (1 - 2 years preferred).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
- Proficient computer, EMR, and 10 key calculator skills.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA guidelines.
Job Duties:
- Obtain referrals and pre-authorizations for procedures.
- Check eligibility and benefits for treatments and procedures.
- Prepare, review, and transmit claims (electronic and paper).
- Post payments (insurance & patient).
- Follow up on unpaid claims and appeal denied/rejected claims.
- Review patient accounts for accuracy, send statements, and work collection accounts.
