Job Summary
The Mechanical Designer/Drafter I at Advanced Exhaust Solutions (AES) is responsible for creating detailed 3D models and technical drawings using SolidWorks. This role supports engineering and production teams by developing accurate and manufacturable designs for components and assemblies. The Designer/Drafter plays a key role in maintaining design standards, supporting cross-functional collaboration, and contributing to continuous improvement efforts within the engineering department.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Drafting:
- Create and revise 3D models and 2D drawings for product components and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Apply appropriate dimensions, annotations, and manufacturing notes to drawings
- Maintain accuracy and clarity in all design documentation in accordance with company standards
Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with engineers and production staff to resolve design-related questions or issues
- Assist in updating documentation and engineering change orders as needed
- Support prototype development and product validation processes
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and propose improvements to design methods, tools, or workflows
- Maintain design files and records for accuracy and traceability
- Contribute to process standardization and best practices within the engineering team
Education and Experience Requirements
- Associate’s degree in mechanical drafting/design or related field; or equivalent experience
- 1 year of experience in drafting or mechanical design
- Proficiency with SolidWorks and related design tools
- Experience in manufacturing or industrial settings preferred
- Familiarity with sheet metal, weldments, and fabrication processes a plus

- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Occasional standing, walking, or movement throughout production and fabrication areas
- Ability to safely navigate office and manufacturing environments
