Job Purpose:
The primary responsibilities of this position are to conduct inspections at various stages of production to ensure that all products and materials meet established quality standards, are free from defects, and comply with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Inspect incoming parts and components to ensure they meet specified standards and are suitable for the production process.
- Conduct quality checks at different stages of the production process to identify any deviations from specifications or potential issues.
- Ensure that the manufacturing processes are operating within the set parameters and recommend adjustments if necessary to maintain product quality.
- Perform detailed inspections of finished products, testing them for defects, safety compliance, functionality, and adherence to customer specifications.
- Use precision instruments, gauges, and tools to measure physical attributes like dimensions, weight, and tolerance levels of the product.
- Check for visual defects such as cracks, scratches, and cosmetic flaws that may affect the product's appearance or performance.
- Ensure that products meet industry-specific standards and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality reports.
- Ensure all necessary documentation is maintained for regulatory purposes, ensuring transparency and traceability in the event of quality audits or customer inquiries.
Skills/Qualifications/Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly in quality control or related roles.
- Proficiency in using a variety of precision tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, height masters, Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM), and multimeters.
- Understanding various inspection methods, including visual inspection, dimensional inspection, and functional testing.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and blueprints.
- A keen eye for identifying small discrepancies or defects that could impact product quality.
- Ability to identify the underlying causes of defects and quality issues and collaborate with production teams to implement corrective actions.
- Ability to assess and interpret inspection data, recognize patterns, and make informed decisions regarding product quality.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ISO 9001.
- Proficiency in maintaining detailed records of inspections, testing, and quality control processes.
- Ability to conduct inspections in a timely manner while maintaining a high level of accuracy and quality.
- Awareness of workplace safety procedures.
- Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements
While performing the responsibilities of the Quality Inspector job, the employee is required to talk and listen. The employee is often required to sit for extended time periods. The employee is required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required for this job include close vision. The employee must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
