Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and Test Products: Perform comprehensive testing and inspection of plastic products, including raw materials, in-process components, and finished goods, using established protocols and standards.
- Analyze Defects: Analyze product defects and identify root causes using quality tools such as statistical process control (SPC), Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA), and other methodologies.
- Develop Quality Procedures: Develop and implement quality control procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices (e.g., ISO 9001, ASTM standards).
- Maintain Equipment: Ensure the calibration and maintenance of testing equipment and instruments.
- Document Activities: Document all quality control activities, including inspection reports, test results, and corrective actions.
- Support Production: Review production schedules and collaborate with the production team to ensure timely and efficient testing of materials and products.
- Train Staff: Develop and conduct training programs for junior QC staff and production personnel on quality standards, inspection techniques, and defect prevention.
- Collaborate with Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and provide input for product design, process improvements, and new product development.
- Monitor Performance: Monitor and report on quality performance metrics to management and assist in the preparation of quality audits.
- Lead Continuous Improvement: Lead root cause analysis investigations and develop corrective actions to address non-conformities and reduce defects in production processes.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quality control within the plastic manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of plastic manufacturing processes, including injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, or thermoforming.
- Skills: Hands-on experience with quality control testing methods for plastic materials, such as tensile strength testing, melt flow index (MFI), density, and dimensional measurements.
- Standards: Familiarity with industry standards and certifications (ISO 9001, ASTM, etc.).
- Software: Proficiency with quality management software and statistical analysis tools.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams across all departments.
