Company Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Junior Estimator to support cost estimation efforts for refinery projects. This role involves assisting in the preparation of accurate cost estimates, analyzing project data, and collaborating with senior estimators, engineers, and project managers. The ideal candidate has strong mathematical skills, proficiency in estimation software, and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing cost estimates for refinery projects, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and bid documents to gather necessary information.
- Collaborate with senior estimators and project teams to ensure accurate forecasting of project costs.
- Research vendor pricing and subcontractor quotes to ensure cost competitiveness.
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and assist in budgeting for project bids.
- Track and analyze historical cost data for use in future project estimates.
- Support in preparing and submitting bid proposals and cost breakdowns.
- Participate in site visits to gather field data and gain a better understanding of project scope.
- Maintain and update cost databases, reports, and estimation tools.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
- 1-3 years of experience in estimating, project controls, or a related role (experience in the oil & gas, refinery, or construction industry is a plus).
- Proficiency in estimation software such as Sage Estimating, RSMeans, HCSS HeavyBid, or similar tools.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of refinery construction, maintenance, and turnaround projects.
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and safety regulations.
- Experience with cost control and budgeting processes.
