Position Summary:
The Senior Strategic Sourcing and Commodity Leader is responsible for the procurement of bulk chemical raw materials to support manufacturing operations. This role manages a significant spend of major commodity purchases including cumene, phenol, acetone, sulfur, and ketones used in chemical intermediates, fertilizers and nylon resins manufacturing.
This role is responsible for negotiating and executing long term supply agreements, managing SAP outline agreements, price forecasting, and generating purchase orders. This position also manages the day-to-day issues that arise across the assigned commodities, including changes in quantities, deliveries, and invoice reconciliation.
This role will build and maintain strong business relationships with segment, plant and functional stakeholders to develop holistic, business focused strategies that support AdvanSix business goals. This role will build and sustain strong supplier relationships that support financial, risk, and sustainability value drivers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain procurement category strategies for assigned raw materials with the mutual goals of minimizing supply risk while delivering financial productivity to support AdvanSix business objectives.
Communicate and align supply strategies with stakeholders and procurement leadership that include key industry trend insights.
Negotiate and manage multi-site supply agreements for assigned materials and other agreements as required.
Develop and maintain supplier relationships to adhere to contract obligations. Anticipate and engage business and operations leaders to solve potential supply shortages, supplier issues, and other potential failure modes.
Develop and present monthly price forecasts, supported by research into current and anticipated external market conditions.
Manage SAP Outline Agreements to facilitate automated PO transactions, PO issuance, and a purchase requisitions queue
Collaborate with supply chain teams to forecast purchase quantity requirements and to communicate with suppliers per contract obligations.
Contribute to working capital improvements through extending supplier pay terms or other options.
Deliver upon assigned individual, team and organizational metrics.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, business administration or related field. Chemical sourcing experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
7 years of procurement or commercial role in the energy, petrochemical, or related industries working within a matrixed organization.
Demonstrated experience with multi-year contracts, major contract management, and supplier negotiations.
Proven experience extracting relevant spend and market data, performing analytics, deriving insights on trends and savings opportunities, and presenting options and recommendations.
Applied skills using the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
Preferred and Other Qualifications:
MBA or Master’s degree
Prior procurement experience with chemical raw material inputs and value chains for a chemical manufacturer
SAP experience related to procurement responsibilities, such as outline agreements, purchase requisitions, and purchase orders.
Use of 3rd party chemical market analysis tools and resources to research industry, supplier, and competitor trends associated with raw materials
