SUMMARY:
The Distribution Manager is responsible for overseeing distribution and warehousing operations with a focus on efficiency, trade compliance, and continuous improvement. This role ensures that inventory, order fulfillment, and logistics processes align with standards while implementing lean principles to drive velocity mapping, reduce waste, and improve overall warehouse performance. The ideal candidate will be experienced in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), managing and developing teams, optimizing packing strategies, and ensuring seamless import/export operations for medical devices. Candidate should have experience managing direct teams, 3PL relationships, and knowledgeable of USTR requirements and compliance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee daily warehouse operations, including receiving, inventory control, order fulfillment, and shipping.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, FIFO, traceability, and other requirements for medical device distribution.
- Develop and implement lean strategies to eliminate inefficiencies, reduce cycle times, and improve accuracy.
- Lead velocity mapping initiatives to optimize warehouse workflows and reduce non-value-added activities.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to improve warehouse productivity and reduce lead times.
- Write and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and compliance in warehouse operations.
- Partner with internal teams to ensure all warehouse processes and import/exports meet required compliance and standards.
- Set clear KPIs for warehouse operations, ensuring targets are met.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to enhance the team's problem-solving and lean thinking capabilities.
- Oversee cycle counting and root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies.
- Standardize packing processes to minimize damage, reduce material waste, and improve packing efficiency.
- Collaborate with logistics partners to track damage rates and continuously improve packing methods.
- Ensure warehouse equipment is properly maintained and serviced as needed to support efficient operations.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. and international trade regulations, including FDA, HTS classification, and tariff compliance.
- Develop SOPs for import/export processes, ensuring team members follow best practices.
- Maintain and enforce the Export Compliance Policy.
- Develop and update export compliance procedures in alignment with legal requirements and business needs.
- Develop and deliver training programs for employees involved in export activities.
- Provide guidance to internal teams on export control classifications, licensing, and restricted parties.
- Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping for all export transactions.
- Work closely with supply chain, sales, legal, and operations teams to ensure compliant export practices.
- Work with 3PL’s, as required, to develop distribution network.

- Lean Environment Be able to lift 40 lbs. regularly.
- Experience working with a 3PL (3rd Party Logistics) and Trade Compliance requirements for import and export to and from the USA.
- Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Forklift Operating Experience
- Proficient with ERP systems and MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Inventory/Logistics Coordinator
- 3PL relationships
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Level 3: Seven plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong knowledge of Lean methodologies, 5S, Kaizen, and velocity mapping.
- Proven ability to develop SOPs and implement process standardization.
- Previous leadership experience managing direct team members.
- Import/export experience managing customs compliance, international shipping, and regulatory documentation.
