Senior Quality Technician (Metrology)

The Senior Quality Technician will create, validate, troubleshoot CMM programs, and perform precision inspections, including FAIs (First Article Inspections), to ensure product conforms to all applicable requirements.

• The successful candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience.
• Work Schedule – Monday to Friday 8AM to 5PM

Responsibilities

• Responsible for support Engineering New Product Development and Investigations in Metrology, through sample measurements and feedback, early on involvement in drawing and GD&T reviews, and early measurement capability evaluations.
• Applies advanced knowledge of GD&T and Metrology principles to program CMM’s/vision systems to ensure products meet specifications and drawings.
• Resolve issues and answer questions from Operators as well as from Inspectors and Engineers.
• Train other inspectors and technicians.
• Work with Quality Engineering to ensure that all set-ups and programs are accurate.
• Participate or lead special projects related to tooling fixtures and gages.
• Identifies and drives cost reduction projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing principle.
• Works closely with the team to determine efficiency improvements.
• Create CMM programs using part drawings or models and perform inspections as required.
• Troubleshoot and/or amend existing CMM programs.
• Perform validation and verification of programs (CMM, vision systems, etc.)
• Take critical measurements using gauges, fixtures and other measurement tools.
• Provide inspection support to all departments in the organization, perform part inspection and FAIs.

Competencies

• Advanced knowledge on all metrology programs and strong working knowledge of GD&T (read and interpret).
• Experience in a manufacturing environment and mechanical inspection of precision part.
• Solid experience with inspection equipment and tools
• Proficiency CMM programming skills/training
• Knowledge of ERP systems.
• Must be able to multi-task without losing track of details.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills (including Microsoft Office
