Business Development Manager
Our client is looking for a motivated and talented individual with a strong sales and marketing background to fill the position of Business Development Manager for one of our business units.
This position will plan and direct all aspects of the business and product development policies, programs, objectives and initiatives with oversight from our General Manager. This position will work with and assist all divisions of the company with researching new products, product enhancements, product redesign, employee and customer product training, and customer calls with the Sales Team. The Business Development Manager will be called to analyze past buying trends, sales records and price to determine value and yield. This position will work closely with the Supply Chain team to propose, select and set up vendor programs and pricing agreements.
Key Results Areas
Engage qualified sales leads provided by the inside sales team
Communicates with customers to identify and understand their requirements
Build and maintain a sales pipeline and forecasting of target accounts utilizing CRM database
Maintains effective communication with current and prior customers of products, services, and enhancements that may be of interest
Provide detailed reporting through CRM of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or distributor issues that may arise
Achieve revenue goals in alignment with company strategy, develop forecasts, and ensure the achievement of targets across identified market segments
Maintain and nurture relationships with key customers and distributors. Implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term partnerships
Monitor market trends, competitive landscape, and industry shifts. Identify new business opportunities and expand the company’s position into new markets or segments as it applies to the overall growth strategy
Work closely with marketing, product development, and customers to ensure alignment between sales efforts and company-wide objectives / Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
Regular reporting and meeting KPI’s as determined for sales revenue generation, growth through identified distribution partners and end users, defining and prospecting pipeline opportunities
Manage an expense budget effectively, ensuring that spending aligns with business goals and that Return on Investment (ROI) is maximized
Lead sales efforts by making sales / training presentations (in person and / or remote) to customers and distributors
Develop distribution partner opportunities with strategic planning and execution efforts
Create and execute on S.M.A.R.T. Goals (Specific. Measurable. Attainable. Realistic. Time-Bound.)
Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
5 years of departmental management experience, preferably an industrial business unit.
Proven buying / negotiating experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong computer skills as well as excellent organizational skills.
Skills in long-term strategic and financial planning.
Ability to preserve confidentiality of information, communicate with all levels of management and work within strict time frames and resolute deadlines.
Proficient knowledge of Profit and Loss statements, general ledgers and margins.
Bachelor’s Degree is highly desirable.
Some travel will be necessary.
