The Role You’ll Contribute
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Primary responsibility is the provision of distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks, which includes but is not limited to assisting the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medications, inventory management, pharmacy billing and customer service, and regulatory compliance. Performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs. Accurately responds to prescription dispensing requests, coordinates medication access and adherence, prepares medications for pharmacist review/check, performs claim adjudication and processes customer (patient) account reconciliation. Facilitates prior authorization and appeals processes as well as patient management program operations.

The Value You’ll Bring To The Team
- Works closely with the clinical pharmacists to enroll specialty patients into the Patient Management Program and performs tasks for dispensing these prescriptions
- Provides frequent communication with patients to perform intake, routine follow-up, and scheduling of refills and deliveries
- Guarantees compliance with accreditation standards such as URAC and ACHC
- For commercial payors requiring PAs, guarantee those are submitted and resolved
- Assists with seeking out available financial programs for patients in need
- Collaborates with the specialty physician’s offices and promotes the pharmacy specialty program
- Answers incoming customer (patient) and provider calls to the pharmacy in a timely and courteous manner, ensuring standards for Average Speed to Answer (ASA) and Abandonment Rate (AR) are met, if applicable
- Supports department needs, performing patient outreach and inquiry follow up as assigned, responding to voicemail and email communications.
- Processes claims adjudication and copay assistance billing for new prescription orders and refill requests, ensuring appropriate National Drug Code (NDC) selection and shipping method are selected at the time of dispense. Verifies ship date, ship method and ship to address, if applicable
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
Education And Experience Required
- High School degree or Equivalent
- 3 years of pharmacy technician experience, in a retail pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy, central fill or hospital setting
- Previous experience in a managed healthcare organization, medical insurance company, pharmacy benefit management or other healthcare related entity
- Florida Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT) license; must complete state required continuing education requirements
- PTCB- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT); must complete national required continuing education requirements
