The role you’ll contribute:
The Patient Sitter performs assigned duties and responsibilities specific to the role in a consistently safe, competent and compassionate manner under the direction of the assigned nurse. Assigned duties may include providing a direct and continuous line of vision for patient observation, suicide watch and providing companionship for the assigned patient. Sitter works in cooperation with all team members in an effort to accomplish departmental goals and objectives.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Sit with patients as assigned keeping the patient in site at all times.
- Maintains direct line of vision of patient at all times
- Patient must be monitored at all times including during toileting and bathing; privacy is to be maintained and staff are to utilize discretion
- Provides and records patient’s personal hygiene, comfort care, toileting, ambulation, nutrition, and hydration needs per unit/hospital standard.
- Ensures patient rooms are neat and clean.
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed :
- Minimum qualifications :
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Preferred qualifications:
- Minimum of 6 months hospital or nursing home experience in a patient care setting preferred
