Manages the installation, daily maintenance, training and support of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) for the diagnostic imaging department. Oversees PACS support staff and imaging informatics library staff.

Job Summary

Job Requirements
Education and Work Experience:
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Bachelor's Degree: Preferred
- Five years' information technology (IT) and imaging informatics experience: Preferred
- Manages the daily operation of the PACS, monitoring and troubleshooting as needed. Works closely with the information technology (IT) department to coordinate installation and upgrades, maintain system functionality and minimize downtime. Maintains PACS security, adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and complying with local, state and federal regulations.
- Trains and supports medical, technical and clerical staff on PACS. Serves as key resource for system issues and user questions. Develops dictation processes and trains new voice recognition (VR) system users. Develops, documents and communicates PACS policies and procedures.
- Manages PACS support staff and imaging informatics library staff, including scheduling and resource allocation. Implements the installation, training and maintenance of PowerScribe and Document Scanners throughout the system. Maintains daily support of workflow to PACS from departments outside of radiology (Cardiology, Nuclear Medicine, ECHO & Vascular Lab, Fetal Imaging, and 3-D Lab).
- Collaborates with health information management and business offices to address charging and coding issues on radiology accounts. Prepares, analyzes and distributes PACS statistical reports to support imaging leadership, radiologists and billing offices.
- Keeps abreast of new methods, technologies and industry trends that may affect the PACS network.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
