Job Summary:
Prepares medications for dispensing, restocking or delivery from outpatient prescriptions. Works on tasks that are most often standard and structured. Performs a variety of inventory control and related clerical duties in support of the purchasing and dispensing function. Maintains records orders, receives and stores pharmacy inventory. Maintains proper inventory levels and ensures correct prices are billed from vendors.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- State Pharmacy Techncian license: Required in CA and OR
- Pharmaceutical Technician Board certification: Preferred
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- State Pharmacy Technician (PTC): Required
Essential Functions:
- Pulls medications from stock and matches medications with the corresponding label generated by the pharmacist involved with entry of medication orders into the patient's computer-generated profile.
- Maintains stock (accuracy, timely restocking, removal of expired medications, rotate stock) of medication areas. Prices and stocks incoming deliveries. Notifies Pharmacists of out of stock medications and appropriately updates the out of stock board. Restocks returned medications.
- Maintains controlled-drug medication records, assists in the filling of patient prescriptions and prepares unit-dose medications all under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Assists in maintaining accurate patient information in the pharmacy computer database.
- Assists with billing, claims, and other related technical and clerical needs.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
