Job Summary:
This is a union-based role represented by the CNA. Perform the professional functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. Coordinate, manage, provide, and delegate patient care. Responsible for meeting the established Standards of Nursing Practice, follows Wound Care Center policies and procedures while promoting cooperation among the health care team. In addition, the Registered Nurse shall meet personal accountabilities of Service, People, Quality, Growth and Cost.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Graduate of a school of nursing: Required
- Wound Care Experience: Preferred
- One-year recent acute care RN experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Current RN license in state of practice: Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Required
- American Board of Wound Management Certified Wound Specialist (CWS): Preferred
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of practice: Required
Essential Functions:
- Assures patients personal needs are met. Collaborate with other health care providers, wound care center physicians, Program Director, and Medical Director, regarding clinic and patient needs. Function as patient advocate in delivery and coordination of patient care.
- Shows a commitment to co-workers. Works as a team to assure all patients have their needs met. Maintains patient, co-worker, and hospital privacy.
- Documentation is clear, concise, and legible; completes accurate documentation in dedicated wound care EMR. Follows infection control guidelines. Provide case management for patients. Obtains history/physical assessment according to unit specific nursing protocol for all age groups. Provide specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management. Provide efficient and effective care with the guidance of the physician during clinic sessions. Reviews medical history, physical examination, and all available assessment data. Manage multiple patients at the same time with high energy and organization. Identifies abnormal diagnostic data and reports to appropriate person. Implements and /or assists others in implementation and documentation of planned education. Assesses patient’s educational needs.
- Assist in the development and education of new staff members. Attends and participates in staff meetings. Completes education, training, and competencies for wound care skills. Successfully adapts to changes in the unit, environment, and workflow.
- Assures all patient charge items are charged and documented correctly. Utilizes department resources appropriately. Minimizes incidental overtime.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
