Job Summary:
Responsible for tasks that effectively lead to high customer satisfaction levels. Plans, manages, delivers and evaluates continuing patient needs throughout women and children services.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- Associate's/Technical Degree in child development, social work, psychology, human development or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
- Bachelor's Degree: Preferred
- Three years' maternal and newborn health services experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Certified Lactation Educator (CLE): Required
- Certified Lactation Consultant (CLC) or International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC/RLC): Preferred
- Child Development Associate (CDA) certification: Preferred
Facility Specific License/Certifications:
- Hospital Fire and Life Safety (HLFS): Required
Essential Functions:
- Provides patients with explanations about the effects of parental alcohol abuse, drug abuse and domestic violence on family health, parenting and general functioning. Explains to patients the effects of perinatal depression on child development.
- Engages families after delivery, provides breastfeeding support and introduces and enrolls new families into Welcome Baby programs.
- Provides the Welcome Baby lead agencies with referral information to schedule home visits.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
