Kennel Attendant and Grounds Keeper

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking, and multi-tasking individual that can both serve as a groundskeeper and kennel attendant. We need someone to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of our facilities (inside and outside) while also being able to assist in taking care of the dogs in our care. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working outdoors and a strong commitment to providing excellent care for dogs. This role involves various tasks related to landscape maintenance, animal care, and ensuring a safe environment for both pets and visitors.

Duties

• Perform routine landscaping duties including trimming bushes, weed eating, raking leaves, spreading pinestraw and refreshing gravel , planting, and watering plants.
• Maintain cleanliness of grounds by picking up litter, debris, organizing materials, and ensuring pathways are clear.
• Maintain cleanliness of boarding areas, which requires one to sweep, vaccum, mop, dust, disinfect and wipe down soiled surfaces, wash all bowls, and empty trash.
• Provide dog care including feeding, giving fresh water, giving required medicine (pills only), taking dogs out to potty, and playing with the dogs (fetch, practicing tricks and commands, chase, frisbee, etc.) while supervising group play (training provided), which requires knowing dog body language and redirecting or taking dogs out of the play area or giving a time out to avoid any issues.
• Construction skills to help build dog play equipment is ideal.
• Assist with kennel maintenance such as disinfecting, pressure washing, painting, and requires some experience with construction.
• Engage with visitors in a friendly manner, providing information about the grounds and services offered.
• Handle heavy lifting tasks related to landscaping equipment and supplies.
• Monitor the health and well-being of animals on-site, reporting any concerns to your manager.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure all groundskeeping tasks are completed efficiently.
• Taking photos and giving updates to customers via our pet software or business VOIP number.

Experience

• Previous experience in groundskeeping or landscaping is preferred but not required.
• Light construction experience is desired.
• Familiarity with animal handling techniques is a plus; experience in pet sitting or dog care is beneficial.
• Skills in customer service are essential for interacting positively with visitors.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in varying weather conditions is required.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $8.00 - $15.00 per hour
