Senior Benefits and Payroll Manager – Midtown Real Estate Firm – $150k-$175k
A well-established real estate firm in Midtown is seeking a Senior Senior Benefits and Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations, benefits administration, and compliance across multiple entities. This role is highly technical, requiring deep expertise in payroll processing, benefits funding, and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing complex payroll structures across multiple states. There is an HR element to this role, however that is the smallest component - the role is tilted more towards benefits and payroll.
This position has a hybrid office schedule with the ability to work Fridays from home.
This is an extremely stable organization that has low turnover.
Responsibilities:
- Manage HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal labor laws.
- Oversee multi-entity, multi-state payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
- Administer and oversee benefits programs, including medical, life insurance, 401k, and paid leave policies.
- Manage relationships and negotiations with benefits brokers to optimize plan offerings.
- Ensure proper deductions, funding, and compliance for all employee benefits.
- Support HR in onboarding, employee documentation, and recordkeeping.
- Provide guidance on policy updates and compliance changes.
- Manage and support a small payroll team, providing oversight and process improvements.
- Ensure adherence to union contracts, wage laws, and multi-state employment regulations.
- Handle compliance reporting, including self-reporting on benefits-related matters.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in HR, payroll, and benefits administration, preferably within real estate, property management, or a related industry.
- Strong experience in payroll processing, benefits administration, and compliance within a multi-entity environment.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems.
- Experience with a union employee population, preferred.
- Solid understanding of employee benefits administration, including working with brokers.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive employee matters with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with HR reporting and compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.
Base Salary: $150k- $175k plus bonus and benefits
