Database Engineer III, Advisor360, LLC, Needham, Massachusetts (Hybrid)
Responsible for designing, developing, optimizing and overseeing the Advisor360 data platform. Specific duties and responsibilities will include:
- Crafting high-performance back-end data solutions to support reporting capabilities, such as front-end applications and websites, data mart activities, advanced analytics, and computational algorithms;
- Implementing, scheduling, and overseeing Extract Transform, and Load (ETL) and other monitoring processes;
- Examining execution plans and performance tune queries;
- Proactively escalating and owning issues to resolution before they become problems;
- Collaborating with other technical teams to maintain data platform efficiency and performance;
- Overseeing the loading of data from vendor and internal databases;
- Monitoring system performance by performing regular tests, troubleshooting, and integrating new features;
- Recommending solutions to improve new and existing database systems;
- Mentoring and guiding junior team members in best practices, coding standards, security considerations and general development;
- Offering technical support by responding to system problems in a timely manner; and
- Describing and documenting designs and implemented processes.
Requirements:
Position requires: a Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related field, and 5 years of experience as a Data Engineer.
Must also have 5 years of experience (which can have been gained concurrently with the primary experience requirement above) with the following:
- Migrating data from existing databases by doing Extraction, Transformation, and Loading of data through packages in SSIS;
- Using Microsoft SQL Server Data tools to do data analysis, reporting, and ETL process;
- Data modelling, reporting, analyzing, and monitoring using MS SQL Server, MSBI, Power BI, and Python;
- Implementing data security measures for protecting sensitive data and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements; and
- Automating routine maintenance monitoring and deployment procedures.
This is a hybrid position working 3 days/week at the company office in Needham, MA and 2 days/week from a home office.
