Responsibilities
- Accurately code patient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems.
- Review clinical documentation to ensure completeness and compliance with coding guidelines.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations, guidelines, and best practices.
- Assist in the development of coding policies and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Support the medical billing process by ensuring timely submission of coded claims.
- Conduct regular audits of coded records to identify areas for improvement.
- Provide training and support to staff regarding medical terminology and coding practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical coding with proficiency in ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG, and related systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical billing, and medical collection processes.
- Certification in medical coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is preferred but not required.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems is a plus.
