Safety Specialist

A leading automotive manufacturer in the Greater Cincinnati area is looking for a dedicated **Safety Specialist **to join their team. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in fostering a safe and compliant work environment, ensuring the well-being of employees, and driving continuous improvement in workplace safety.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations, including OSHA and other industry standards.
• Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify and resolve potential hazards.
• Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and safety concerns, implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Manage workers’ compensation cases and coordinate with safety consultants, including occupational health professionals and ergonomic specialists.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees, including new hire training and refresher courses.
• Identify and mitigate potential workplace hazards through proactive risk assessments and safety controls.
• Lead emergency preparedness initiatives, including response planning and conducting safety drills.
• Maintain and update safety documentation, including policies, procedures, and compliance reports.
• Promote a culture of safety through effective communication, awareness programs, and engagement with employees at all levels.
• Collaborate with leadership and employees to reinforce accountability and implement continuous safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to influence and educate employees.
• Experience conducting safety audits, investigations, and risk assessments.
• Ability to develop and lead safety training programs.
• Preferred: 3-5 years of experience in safety coordination and familiarity with ISO safety standards.
