CNC Machinist – Tool Room (Union Environment)
Location: Libertyville, IL
Shift: 1st Shift, 6 am-2 pm, no ovetime
Salary: Competitive, based on experience
We are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join a diverse and tenured team at our Libertyville, IL plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC programming and machining spare parts within tight tolerances. Key Responsibilities:
- CNC Programming & Setup: Program and operate Haas Mills, Lathes, and Wire EDM machines from scratch using CAM/CAD software (ACcam, Esprit, MasterCAM, or similar).
- Precision Machining: Manufacture parts (e.g., punches, punch retainers, die blocks) to tolerances of two-ten-thousandths of an inch (0.0002" - 0.0000").
- Blueprint & Engineering Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to set up and machine parts to exact specifications.
- Machine Operation: Set up and operate CNC Mills, Lathes, and Wire EDM machines, ensuring parts meet quality standards.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting, adjusting machine settings to optimize production and resolve issues.
- Collaboration: Work with engineers and other departments to improve machining processes, part design, and tooling.
- Quality Control: Perform quality assurance tests and ensure that finished products meet design and customer specifications.
Required Qualifications:
- CNC Programming Experience: 3-5 years of experience programming from scratch (must be proficient in Haas Mills and Wire EDM machines).
- Machining Experience: Comfort with setting up, operating, and running CNC machines (mills, lathes, wire EDM).
- Blueprint Reading: Proficient in reading blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Experience in a Stamping Environment: Background in a stamping or similar manufacturing environment is highly preferred.
- CAM Software Knowledge: Experience with CAM software, preferably ACcam, Esprit, or MasterCAM.
- CAD Software Knowledge: Experience with CAD software such as 3D AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Siemens NX (Unigraphics).
- Tolerance Precision: Ability to machine parts with very tight tolerances (0.0002" or similar).
- Union Experience: Comfortable working in a union environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical Education: Associate degree in Machine Tool Technology, Applied Science, or a related field (or equivalent technical certification).
- Manual Machining: Experience writing G-code M-code and manual machining is a plus.
