CNC Machinist

Position Title: CNC Machinist                                     Reports To: CNC Supervisor

Summary

The CNC Machinist is responsible for the operation of computer controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic work pieces

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

·         Observe all safety rules/regulations and perform duties in a safe and efficient manner

·         Measures dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precisions measuring instruments

·         Proficient with the use of indicators, must be able to align, pick up bores, bosses, and center work piece using an indicator

·         Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments

·         Stop machines to remove finished work pieces or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences

·         Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation

·         Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished work piece dimensions, or numerical control sequences

·         Listen to machines during operations to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems

·         Reliable attendance a must

·         Ensure to abide by safety regulations

·         Other duties as assigned in Management’s sole discretion

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

·         High School diploma or equivalent

·         Familiarity with Tool and Mold Making

·         Familiarity with G-Code, CAD, CAM

·         Ability to follow written and verbal instruction

·         Must be able to communicate to others, as well as be able to receive communication from others

·         Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

·         Demonstrate knowledge of safety procedures pertaining to the general operator

·         Must have or obtain forklift certification

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

·         Must be able to work overtime when required by management

·         Must have flexible working schedule to support molding operations

·         Repetitive bending/reaching

·         Standing for sustained periods to time

·         Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds
