The Opportunity
Within Aeroflow, the Data Operations team is comprised of a small but mighty team of data professionals. Our engineers and DBAs work alongside our SQL Engineers, technical leads, and QA specialists to help facilitate quality data products for our internal customers. You will play a pivotal role in protecting, enhancing, and optimizing our SQL Server database. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to bring innovative ideas to life, leveraging your expertise in T-SQL to improve the scalability of Aeroflow’s key data tools and assets.
Key objectives for this position include: optimizing our SQL environment; drive best practices and approaches to database and query design; troubleshooting and resolving performance issues. Ultimately, you should be able to ensure our database systems run effectively and securely on a daily basis.
Your Primary Responsibilities
We are currently seeking a Development DBA. The DBA who has experience with and is responsible for
- Strong knowledge of database design principles.
- Highly proficient in SQL database performance tuning
- Experience using SQL server native tools (query plans, query stores and other DMVs) for performance monitoring and query optimization.
- Experience writing and tuning TSQL Stored Procedures
- Experience finding root cause performance issues within an extremely high volume databases instance
- Experience in data archival processes to reduce the size of databases.
- Effectively communicates and documents technical architecture and solutions.
- Solve database usage issues and malfunctions.
- Liaise with developers to improve applications and establish best practices.
- Ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements.
- Research and suggest new database products, services, and protocols.
- Employee has an individual responsibility for knowledge of and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.
- Compliance is a condition of employment and is considered an element of job performance
- Maintain HIPAA/patient confidentiality
- Other job duties assigned.
Skills for Success
- Database design: Strong proficiency in database design concepts, including data architecture and normalization.
- SQL: Expert-level SQL skills for query development and performance tuning.
- Documentation: strong written communication skills to create documented best practices for other engineers to adhere to.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in a Database developer, Development DBA, or a related role.
- Experience with databases > 1 TB
- Proven experience with query tuning.
- Expert level SQL skills.
