What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at AeroMod Inc?
The Controller is a member of the Aero-Mod leadership team and acts as a business partner to other leaders and key stakeholders in the platform. The Controller is responsible for all aspects of finance and accounting at Aero-Mod, including the company’s operating results, financial and accounting policies, processes and controls, forecasting and budgeting, and the accuracy and integrity of all financial information. This is a very ‘hands-on’ role, ideal for a finance/accounting professional who can balance the management of daily tactical issues with achieving broader strategic objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and project tracking (costing and revenue recognition)
- Responsible for month end closing process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and control validations (for example: revenue recognition)
- Full ownership for all general ledger accounts, to include maintaining an understanding of monthly account transaction flows and balances, verifying discrepancies, and resolving account issues
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements in accordance with company policies and timetables to ensure accuracy and integrity. Analyze and explain variances related to budget and forecast
- Lead the process for preparation and review of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts
- Manage fixed assets, including responsibility for additions, dispositions, and depreciation
- Oversee the capital expenditure process, including coordination of funding requests and budget tracking
- Manage sales tax filings and annual 1099’s
- Coordinate data gathering required for Y/E financial audit with external auditors
- Coordinate data gathering required for Y/E tax filings with external tax preparation partners
- Partner and build relationships with peers to ensure accurate forecasting, budget management, and financial reporting & analysis
- Treasury oversight in ensuring effective management of cash and working capital
- Ensure compliance with relevant local tax, accounting, auditing, and external reporting requirements
- Provide analysis and strategic insight to Aero-Mod management on a proactive and as-requested basis
- Ensure seamless communication throughout the business and adherence to critical deadlines
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles, including 2-3 years in a leadership role
- Experience with Project finance / Percent of Completion (PoC) accounting strongly preferred
- Understanding of US GAAP and relevant financial accounting regulations
- Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and conceptual skills
- Proven ability to set priorities and work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- High level of integrity/transparency, with ability to work through issues as they arise and proactively offer solutions
- Experience working in private equity-backed company preferred
- Strong attention to detail, data analysis, problem-solving, and conceptual skills
- Excellent verbal and written presentation skills including the ability to communicate analyses and recommendations to senior management
- Advanced Excel skills
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related business field. CPA, MBA preferred
