JOB TITLE: Controller
DEPARTMENT: Accounting
JOB RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports:
Responsible to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Responsible for: Does not supervise other employees
Interrelationships: Works cooperatively with the CFO, as well as other administrative staff such as CEO, COO, and CNO, hospital department managers, medical staff, employees, and patients.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Controller is responsible for the day to day management of Accounting, Payroll, and Accounts Payable functions.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
● Minimum of three years’ experience in healthcare finance
● Knowledge and experience in cost reporting, including third party reimbursement
● Strong understanding of banking processes and financial data analysts
● Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
● Experience with managing payroll
● Exemplary history of financial management
Education:
● Bachelor degree in Business Administration Finance, Accounting, or related field.
KEY COMPETENCIES:
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Strong organizational, planning, time management and prioritizing skills.
● Proficiency in MS Office and accounting management software.
● Ability to interpret and apply government regulations.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Maintain internal safeguards of revenue receipts, costs, and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
● Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring and reporting on biweekly, monthly and annual basis.
● Investigates all material variances from Budget to Actual maintain operational integrity of the financial system.
● Implement consistent accounting policies, practices and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation.
● Prepares and provides oversight of financial and statistical budgets for assigned entities, on a scheduled or unprompted basis.
● Provides oversight of all budget reporting comparing actual results to budget standards.
● Adherence to all other accounting professional standards and department policy and procedures.
● Responsible for cash management responsibilities includes initialing bank deposits and balancing cash. As well as adequate cash reserves for operations and proper investment of excess cash reserves to realize investment income.
● Works on special projects as needed.
