Summary / Objectives
The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for ensuring the manufacturing process is reliable and stable to ensure product quality. This position works with the customer and customer models to design and produce production tooling, layup molds, drill fixtures and assembly tooling necessary to produce products. He / she will generate the ply kits, core kits, laser projection programs, planning, work instructions and any other details necessary to convey the product design features to the shop floor, this includes but is not limited to the following functions.
Essential Functions
- Creating products, materials, and work sequences to produce tooling, parts, and assemblies in ACS’s ERP system.
- Reads, interprets, understands, and creates product specifications.
- Tooling design and development
- Introduction of new products and processes; adjusts based on manufacturing feasibility
- Collaborates with the shop floor leadership to improve production times and resolve issues.
- Creates and presents training to shop floor technicians on new documented processes & procedures.
- Ensures work instructions are accurate and current; makes changes as necessary
- Understand product quality and things that influence product quality.
- Serve as backup to program and operate CNC machine and FARO arm, if needed.
- Maintains 6s in the workplace.
- Work on production equipment as required repairs, preventive maintenance, and general maintenance activities.
- Performs other related duties as may be required.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility but may provide direction and guidance to others in the engineering department and / or production. He / she must be able to collaborate and influence others to successfully perform the role.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This job operates in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This role routinely uses and / or is exposed to equipment used in the composites manufacturing process, cutting devices, hand tools, computers, handheld scanners, etc. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for up to 10 hours per day. Must be able to repetitively lift to 50 lbs.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during day shift hours. Evening and weekend overtime work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
Limited travel up to 25% may be required for various training or product support activities.
