We are seeking a skilled Aerospace Business Strategist to join our team in the aerospace and defense sector.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in identifying and pursuing business opportunities, particularly in the areas of aerospace, satellite systems, defense technology, and national security.
The role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and senior leadership, to capture new business, expand existing relationships, and drive long-term strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Market Research & Opportunity Identification:
- Conduct in-depth market research to identify emerging trends, new customers, and business opportunities within the space and defense sectors.
- Monitor industry developments, competitor activities, and government programs to inform strategic decisions and identify potential growth areas.
Business Development & Sales:
- Develop and implement business development strategies to drive revenue growth, including expanding into new markets and identifying key government and commercial contracts.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in government agencies (DoD, NASA, etc.), prime contractors, and other industry players.
- Lead the preparation and submission of proposals, including the technical, cost, and performance aspects of the business.
Partnership & Contract Negotiations:
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and terms with potential customers, suppliers, and partners.
- Forging and managing strategic partnerships and joint ventures with key industry players to enhance the company's market position and capabilities.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing solutions that meet their needs and strengthen long-term business relationships.
- Understand customer requirements, translating them into actionable business solutions and project proposals.
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote the company's offerings.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive pipeline of opportunities, with clear forecasts and action plans.
- Collaborate with senior management to align business development efforts with the company's overall strategic goals.
- Contribute to the creation of the company's long-term growth strategy.
Reporting & Performance Tracking:
- Prepare and deliver regular reports on business development activities, sales performance, and market trends.
- Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring alignment with targets and business objectives.
Qualifications:
Education:A bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, aerospace, or a related field. A master's degree or MBA is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, or a related field within the space, aerospace, or defense industry.
- Experience working with government agencies (such as the DoD or NASA) and understanding government contracting processes.
- Experience with deals with customers such as Raytheon, L3, Aerojet, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, Sandia Labs, SpaceX, Blue Origin, etc.
Skills:
- Proven track record of winning contracts and closing deals in the space and defense sectors.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Familiarity with proposal writing and contract management processes.
