Position Title:
Local Service Provider (LSP) – SERRC 21st Century Community Learning Center Program
Position Characteristics:
The Local Service Provider is the instructor for SERRC’s 21st Century Afterschool K-2 Literacy Program at June Nelson Elementary School, Kotzebue. The instructor will perform all duties ensuring responsibilities have been fulfilled in an accurate and timely manner. The Program Coordinator/Director supervises this position.
Position Qualifications:
B.A. or B.S.
Alaska Teaching Certificate
Experience teaching and managing K-2 students, preferred
Flexible, team oriented, collaborative
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Experience with student assessments

Position Duties/Responsibilities:
- Gather necessary information and enroll new students in program
- Review and monitor student progress to provide tailored support
- Plan and provide afterschool programming to students in pre-literacy, literacy, and STEAM in a culturally focused environment using research based best practices
- Assist students with homework
- Lead and encourage physical and healthy lifestyle activities using the CATCH curriculum
- Co-lead activities that integrate local community and virtual on-line partners to enhance and strengthen programming
- Maintain attendance and progress records for students on a daily basis
- Communicate regularly with parents, regular school staff, and on-site lead teacher to ensure link to regular day program and home
- Coordinate and implement parent engagement events with school and community
- Participate in all scheduled program trainings and mandated trainings
- Attend conferences as identified
- Complete all surveys required of grant
