Aircraft Mechanic Job Description
An aircraft mechanic at AEVEX Aerospace is responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft systems and components.
- Inspects and diagnoses malfunctions, using power and hand tools to fix parts and ensure compliance with aviation safety regulations.
- Performs maintenance and alteration tasks in accordance with the current technical data, manufacturers' instructions for continued airworthiness, service bulletins, and other FAA approved/acceptable data.
- Maintains complete and accurate maintenance records in accordance with repair station requirements.
The individual must:
- Inspect structural, mechanical, and electronic elements of an aircraft using a variety of hand and power tools to assess and replace parts.
- Maintain engines, landing gear, instruments, pressurized sections, brakes, valves, pumps, air conditioning systems, and other aircraft related systems.
- Be able to identify, troubleshoot, and correct repairs on aircraft, its subsystems, and components.
- Follows safety protocols and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment.
- Ensure all work is done efficiently and adheres to aviation safety regulations and industry best practices.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in maintaining aircraft system components.
- Ability to recognize aircraft discrepancies and troubleshoot.
- Strong knowledge of standard aircraft maintenance practices.
- Strong ability to understand QA processes, parts identification and control tags.
- Working knowledge of airframe structures and power plant systems.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems and wiring diagrams.
- Thorough understanding of shop equipment and specialty tools.
- Ability to work independently with direct supervision.
Requirements include:
- Minimum 3 years aviation experience as a mechanic.
- Military aviation experience a plus.
This position requires:
- Frequent operation of hand tools, equipment, heavy machinery.
- Frequent entry/exit of an aircraft and working in tight areas with awkward and uncomfortable body positions.
- Frequent use of ladders and high platforms with fall protection equipment, including walking on top of aircraft.
