Description
Aevum Defense is seeking a propulsion engineer (level 1) to design and develop propulsion systems (requirements to test to orbit) for Aevum's rocket vehicle programs. This is not an entry level position. 2-5 years of experience required. This is a fast-paced development position for high performance, individual contributors. You will report directly to the Founder Jay Skylus.
Starting Salary Range: $80,000-$120,000
Responsibilities
- Own propulsion system requirements from analysis to V&V
- Design and develop rocket engines and fluid systems/components. Must be familiar with propulsion design concepts and techniques.
- Manage an extensive supply chain and subcontractor network to ensure propulsion hardware is built and delivered accurately and on-time.
- Perform fluid system and propulsion analysis.
- Independently verify propulsion subcontractor reports and calculations.
- Participate in design reviews and US DOD launch mission reviews, as requested.
- Support the design and development of propulsion system and rocket stage test stands.
- Develop and own test plan and procedures for your own hardware.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, physics, mechanical engineering, or similar
- 2 years of experience designing and developing propulsion systems
- Ability to obtain security clearance
- Must be willing to travel as needed for rocket tests and vendor audits
- Solid understanding of propulsion systems and related subjects
- Working knowledge of rocket engine designs (liquid, hybrid, solids, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn extremely fast
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- As needed, must be willing to work extended hours and weekends to ensure that customers are properly supported and missions are on-time.
