Position Overview:
The Detailer is responsible for creating precise structural steel fabrication drawings using industry-standard software. Working under the supervision of the Lead Detailer, the Detailer collaborates with engineering and project teams to translate design concepts and engineering data into accurate, detailed drawings that meet project specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Drawing Production
*Prepare detailed fabrication drawings for structural steel components using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, SDS/2).
*Interpret architectural and engineering plans to produce accurate drawings
Collaboration & Communication:
*Work closely with the Lead Detailer and engineering team to incorporate design changes and resolve technical issues.
*Attend project meetings and communicate updates on drawing progress and revisions.
Quality Assurance:
*Ensure all drawings adhere to industry standards, company protocols, and project requirements.
*Conduct self-reviews and follow established quality control procedures to minimize errors.
Documentation & File Management:
*Maintain organized records of drawings and revisions.
*Update and archive documentation as required by project and company standards.
Continuous Improvement:
*Stay updated on new detailing software, techniques, and industry trends to improve productivity and accuracy.
*Suggest improvements to current detailing processes and tools.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in drafting, architecture, engineering, or a related field; relevant experience may substitute formal education.
- 2 years of experience in structural steel detailing or drafting preferred.
- Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Tekla Structures, SDS/2, or similar applications.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to team-based projects.
