AFCO Distribution & Milling, based in Spokane Valley, WA, has been supporting farms and feed stores across the Northwest for the last 90 years. We are proud to be part of Skagit Farmers Supply, an agricultural cooperative established in 1934 in Washington's Skagit Valley. We are guided by a board of directors comprising five local farmers, who are deeply rooted in the community and committed to agriculture.
Skagit Farmers Supply’s operations include retail Country Stores, fuel services, agronomy, propane delivery, and AFCO’s distribution and milling operations. We distribute quality products to feed and pet supply retailers across the Northwest, ensuring that farms and pets thrive.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary contact for customer and vendor accounts, addressing inquiries related to billing, payments, and company services.
- Process payments, perform credit card reconciliations, and prepare daily deposits with accuracy and efficiency.
- Negotiate collection arrangements for overdue account balances, ensuring timely resolution while maintaining positive relationships.
- Manage a variety of accounts, from small-scale to complex, high-value accounts.
- Review new customer account applications, perform initial account setup, and compile and assess credit reports for approval.
- Accurately enter a high volume of invoices.
- Analyze and reconcile vendor accounts as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding vendor and customer payment histories.
- Ensure accounts payable processes are completed accurately and closed in a timely manner for month-end financial reporting.
- Assist staff and vendors with billing, coding and payment related questions.
- Perform accounts payable duties including coding and submitting invoices and timely payment processing.
- Exhibit an ability to receive feedback, adapt to new processes and continuously develop skills.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate, communicate well and effectively relay information with an emphasis on developing positive professional relationships.
- Practice punctual and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- College degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or similar field of study.
- Pass a pre-employment drug screen as a condition of employment.
- Possess a valid driver license and maintain a safe driving record.
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office.
- Commitment to excellence and high standards especially in terms of providing outstanding customer service.
- Proven track record of being dependable and reliable.
- Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Physical ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time at a desk.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 30 pounds.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a wholesale, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
SCHEDULE
This is a full time, 40 hours per week position. Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM. Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends as needed.
