Job Summary
Prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities.
_ Performance Responsibilities_
- Manage lien releases, prevailing wage/certified payroll, insurance needs, etc. for our commercial department.
- Assist in preparing accurate and timely financial reports (i.e. monthly sales reports, etc.) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Post, verify and record customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
- Work with sales staff to ensure all information within a job is complete and accurate prior to job closing.
- Prepare and file tax forms and other reports with various government agencies (i.e. sales tax, quarterly and year-end reports, payroll taxes, etc.).
- Track and process credit memos.
- Consult with supervisor on fiscal administration and budget procedures.
- Assist in the implementation of controls, policies and procedures to support the growth and expansion of the company.
- Support month-end and year-end close.
- Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives and current accounting standards.
- Create and maintain a variety of files (computer and hard copy including confidential files) to ensure accurate, up-to-date information is available.
- Assist in handling front desk duties when needed.
- Attend schedule meetings and vendor trainings as required.
- Assist in any special projects/additional duties assigned.
_ Qualifications/Educational Experience_
- AA degree in Accounting or Finance and one to two years’ experience in accounting and/or finance.
- Knowledge of state and federal financial regulations.
- Working knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents.
- Ability to correctly prepare tax documents.
- Possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to maintain accurate records and provide timely information.
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
- Have experience and demonstrated ability to work professionally and cooperatively with staff, vendors and customers.
- Be able to work within designated boundaries of authority and confidentiality.
- Be able to handle many complex duties at the same time demonstrating leadership and organizational skills, while working effectively under pressure and meeting deadlines in a timely and efficient manner.
- Demonstrate skills in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
_ Working Conditions_
This is an office job. The employee is confined to a work area; required to have precise control of fingers and hand movements; experiences constant interruptions; must be able to work at a computer monitor for prolonged periods; and must be able to crouch, crawl, bend, kneel, and lift/move objects such as files, boxes, etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.00 - $36.00 per hour
