Responsible for providing receptionist and administrative support, as well as maintains information management systems in accordance with current applicable federal and state guidelines and in accordance with established procedural guidelines to ensure that a complete information management program is maintained.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
- Assists with administrative-type duties (i.e. typing, filing, copying, sorting mail, calculations, answering phones, etc.) as requested by supervisor.
- Processes patient plans of care, orders and multi-disciplinary flow sheets; updates, prints and distribute records as appropriate.
- Review charts of admitted and discharged patients for deficiencies; monitors for compliance for correction of deficient documentation.
- Maintains effective communication with others, both inside and outside the department, to give or obtain needed information or coordinate activities of patients (e.g. doctors’ appointments).
- Ensures the accuracy of administrative functions and data entry in the electronic medical record.
- Promotes the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication.
- Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
- Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Emotional maturity, sensitivity, human relations skills, successful resolution of losses in own life, and good interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of healthcare organizations and their structure; including their compliance (e.g. HIPAA) and medical coding requirements.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, department heads, administrators, organizational stakeholders and the general public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- One year of experience in providing office administrative support and maintaining medical records.
