Founded in 1991 to address the overwhelming need for affordable housing in Monmouth County, the Affordable Housing Alliance (AHA) has grown from a small $25,000 grant into a multi million dollar annual operation and powerhouse non-profit. In our decades of service, we've developed over 600 affordable housing units with a strong pipeline fueling future growth. Our passionate team of difference-makers guides residents through every step of the housing journey - from homelessness prevention and rental assistance, to homebuyer education and foreclosure counseling.

The Accounts Payable Specialist will have direct responsibility for overseeing the accounts payable function, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely payments, and contributing to process improvements and financial analysis within the agency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
Accounts Payable Processing:
- Review/verify invoices and expense reports
- Code transactions accurately
- Process timely payments
- Ensure proper authorization
- Maintain vendor relationships
- Reconcile vendor statements
- Track program expenses
- Maintain allocation spreadsheets
- Support month-end close
- Assist with annual budgets
- Monitor cash flow
- Ensure policy adherence
- Support audit requirements
- Generate Accounts Payable reports
- Track vendor metrics
- Document processes
- Backup Controller duties
- Fund accounting knowledge
- Journal entry preparation
- Financial analysis
- Internal controls
- Budget management
- Process automation
- Bachelor’s in accounting/business
- 3 years Accounts Payable experience
- Non-profit background preferred
- QuickBooks Online proficiency
- BILL.com experience
- Excel/Google Sheets expertise
- Strong communication skills
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with other departments, such as administration, property management, and other programs, to gather necessary information, resolve issues, and facilitate smooth workflow and communication.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Attentive to detail.
- Ability to work effectively and pleasantly in a team environment
- Have experienced homelessness or housing insecurity and understand the barriers and opportunities within these experiences
- Are passionate about using their experiences to support others and advocate for change
- Bring a personal understanding of systemic challenges related to economic insecurity
