AFL is seeking a full time Splicer Technician in Duncan, SC to join our Splicing and Test Equipment Service/Support team. The Splicer Technician reports to the Splicing and Test Equipment Service/Support Manager and may be assigned to different projects as business needs dictate. The Splicer Technician will have electronics training and repair experience in a production or service environment with a strong mechanical aptitude and experience interfacing directly with customers.

Responsibilities
- Service, test, and repair fiber optic splicing and test equipment in a bench-repair, production environment.
- Performs mechanical and electronic adjustments on equipment as outlined in the Factory Service Manuals, Technical Information bulletins, and hands-on training from senior technicians.
- Cooperates with fellow workers and management to achieve team service objectives in a high-volume repair environment.
- Provides fast and dependable repair service and technical support to customers, AFL sales team, and internal customers.
- Resolves customer requests and concerns independently and communicates unusual customer relation issues to the service manager.
- Builds customer relationships and loyalty through direct customer service support and repair efficiency.
- Maintains parts inventory and achieves acceptable levels of inventory control and usage.
- Actively engage in continuous improvement processes and activities
- Performs other duties as prescribed by the Splicing and Test Equipment Service/Support Manager.
Skills & Requirements
- Associates degree or equivalent technical training and experience in an electronic or electro-mechanical field preferred. Veteran with communications or electronics background also a plus.
- Minimum 1 year work experience. Formal training in electronic or mechanical field preferred plus experience interfacing with customers.
- 1 year computer systems experience
- Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft Office software products preferred.
- Ability to logically troubleshoot electro-mechanical equipment
- Ability to perform work accurately and independently
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to all customers
- Strong desire and ability to learn and expand fiber optic knowledge
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills
- Energetic desire to assist customers
- Active participation in process improvement efforts
- Occasional weekend work required
- Bilingual with the ability to communicate technical concepts both orally and in written form in both English and Spanish is a plus.
Physical Demands
- Requires dexterity and considerable use of hands and tools with fine motor skills to perform precise electro-mechanical alignments.
- Frequently requires moving or lifting equipment between 20 to 50 pounds.
- Must have specific vision abilities required by this job including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
