The Opportunity
Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in maintaining and repairing physical structures of buildings, grounds, machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
- Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment, and skill of personnel.
- Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
- Monitor tool and part inventories and the condition and maintenance of shops to ensure adequate working conditions.
- Develop, implement, or evaluate maintenance policies and procedures.
- Examine objects, systems, or facilities and analyze information to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
- Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
- Inspect and monitor work areas, examine tools and equipment, and provide employee safety training to prevent, detect, and correct unsafe conditions or violations of procedures and safety rules.
- Inspect, test, and measure completed work, using devices such as hand tools or gauges to verify conformance to standards or repair requirements.
- Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, or replacement parts.
- Participate in budget preparation and administration, coordinating purchasing and documentation and monitoring departmental expenditures.
- Perform skilled repair or maintenance operations, using equipment such as hand or power tools, hydraulic presses or shears, or welding equipment.
- Meet with vendors or suppliers to discuss products used in repair work.
- Compute estimates and actual costs of factors such as materials, labor, or outside contractors.
- Review, evaluate, accept, and coordinate completion of work bid from contractors.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, or job orders to construct templates and lay out reference points for workers.
- Direct workers engaged in painting and performing structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings.
- Directs workers engaged in ground maintenance activities, such as mowing lawns, trimming hedges, removing weeds, and raking and disposing of leaves and refuse.
- Direct workers engaged in the general cleaning and upkeep of buildings, including buffing, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and washing windows.
- Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments.
- Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Consistently work in a safe and efficient manner by following company safety rules in accordance with OSHA regulations and by wearing all required PPE. Ensure material surfaces are clean and free from foreign materials, debris, oil, slag, etc.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
- 7 years in Maintenance role
- 3-5 years in Supervisory role related; experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must have experience in manufacturing environment.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software, Manufacturing software, Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
