As the Full Time Greenhouse Manager for The Seed Farm, you will be at the helm of our thriving greenhouse, overseeing the growth and care of a wide variety of plants.
What would you do as a Greenhouse Manager
As the Greenhouse Manager at the Community Action Committee of Lehigh Valley, you will be the fearless leader of our greenhouse production. Your role will involve overseeing all aspects of our greenhouse, ensuring that plants receive the love and care they need to thrive. But that's not all - you'll also have the exciting opportunity to coordinate our Growing Partners Program, working with local organizations and individuals to promote sustainable growing practices.
Would you be a great Greenhouse Manager?
To thrive as the Greenhouse Manager, you'll need a diverse set of skills and experiences.
First and foremost, a high school diploma or GED is required, along with at least five full seasons of organic or low input/sustainable vegetable production experience. Additionally, you should have a full season of organic or low input/sustainable greenhouse management experience under your belt.
Tractor experience in the context of diversified vegetable farming is preferred, as it will come in handy for various tasks. You'll also need to demonstrate your ability to work effectively and inclusively with individuals from diverse racial, ethnic, and economic backgrounds. A commitment to sustainable practices, including weed, pest, disease, and water management, is crucial. Basic carpentry, equipment maintenance, and small engine repair skills will be advantageous in this role.
Furthermore, you should possess the ability to raise crops from seed to table and have a good understanding of the business side of farming. Experience in developing educational workshops or curricula will be a plus.
