Job Description
Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Reports To: Pharmacist
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: The pharmacy technician is responsible for assisting the pharmacist.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Receive written prescription or refill requests and verify that information is complete and accurate.
2. Prepack bulk medicines, fill bottles with prescribed medications, and type and affix labels.
3. Answer telephones, responding to questions or requests.
4. Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
5. Assist customers by answering simple questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medication information.
6. Establish or maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients.
7. Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.
8. Operate cash registers to accept payment from customers.
9. Clean and help maintain equipment or work areas and sterilize glassware, according to prescribed methods.
10. Prepare and process medical insurance claim forms and records.
11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Customer and Personal Service:
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Language Ability:
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Spanish bilingual individual is preferred.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Computer Skills: Office suite software, Medical Software
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Internet Explorer. Epic EHR.
Education/Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum two (2) years of experience of retail pharmacy technician required.
Certificates and Licenses:
Valid driver's license
