What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Activity Specialist position at Agassiz Village?
Position Description: Student life...but for camp! Spend your summer working at camp and creating community-building experiences for the staff. Camp staff make magic happen for the campers, and at Agassiz Village we're looking for someone to make that magic happen for the staff, too.
You'll support the Director of Staff care by planning and executing daily outings for staff to get off our site and into town for coffee, ice cream, grocery runs - whatever will help the make the most of their break time so they can come back to camp refreshed. During weekend breaks between sessions, you'll take the opportunity to plan larger and more exciting off-camp experiences where staff can relax, refresh, and build supportive relationships with each other. You'll also help with staff appreciation throughout the summer. By engaging the staff in activities and events created just for them, you play a priceless role in making sure our seasonal staff have the best job experience possible.
Responsibilities:
- Create a schedule of local outings during the camp week as well as engaging activities during intersession weekends.
- Provide transportation to all outings by driving the camp van.
- Organize staff appreciation initiatives throughout the summer.
- Pick up staff from the bus or the airport upon arrival to and departure from camp.
- On occasion drive campers home or to the local doctor.
- Run errands for camp while you are out.
- Model our philosophy and values, encouraging a positive culture and staff dynamic. Contribute positively to our camp environment.
- Ensure safety is maintained according to relevant policies and procedures.
- Help to ensure that the camp facility is well-cared for and kept clean.
- Complete any other tasks required to ensure a meaningful staff experience.
- Participate in covering for staff time-off on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record
- Great communication skills
- High energy and excellent people skills
- Must be a safe, courteous driver
- Ability to obtain First Aid/CPR certificate

For 88 years, children from under-resourced communities in New England have come to our 330-acre lakefront overnight camp in Poland, Maine to experience unique learning opportunities, be challenged to discover interests, uncover new skills, make lifetime friendships, and connect with inspiring mentors. In addition, teens in our year-round program are supported to graduate high-school and prepare to be career/college ready.
