What are the responsibilities and job description for the Supportive Living Cook position at AgeSpan?
Position Summary: The Supportive Living Cook is responsible for heating, portioning, serving the evening meal at an offsite elderly housing building and cleaning up after the meal is served. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 3:00-6:00pm. Additional hours may be given to participate in job related training.
Organizational Relationships:
- Reports to the Driver Supervisor and Nutrition Program Manager
- Collaborates with Supportive Living and Housing Staff
Essential Job Functions:
- Promotes a welcoming, hospitable community environment for residents
- Heats, portions, and serves the evening meal to residents in the community room
- Always follows stringent food safety sanitation practices
- Maintains logs of food service and refrigerator temperatures
- Cleans and sanitizes the trays, pots, pans, and the meal site kitchen overall at the close of each shift
- Notifies Nutrition office staff by phone or email of any meal shortages or unsatisfactory food issues within 24 hours of each shift
- Distributes monthly menus to residents in a timely manner to allow for reservations to be made
- Takes attendance at the meal site daily and returns attendance sheet weekly to Nutrition office staff
- Collects voluntary donations and brings donation lockbox to the Nutrition office on a monthly basis
- Notifies Nutrition office staff when supplies or paperwork need replenishment and transports them to the site
- Notifies Supportive Living Coordinator of any resident issues out of the norm and for resident emergencies dials 911
- Refers residents to the Community Dietician with any nutrition or diet related questions
- Performs other tasks as requested by the Driver Supervisor and Nutrition Program Manager
Non-essential Job Functions:
- Attend meetings as required including staff meetings, in-service trainings, utilization reviews, and collateral agency
Requirements:
- Must attend the EOEA Nutrition Sanitation Certification Workshop or have current SERV Safe certification
- Requires lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, as well as bending, reaching, and cleaning.
Other Skills/Abilities:
- Proven basic cooking and cleaning abilities
- Organized, able to improvise, work independently and ability to multi-task
- Understands the importance of resident privacy
- Good listener and communicator
- Commercial food service knowledge and experience with elders preferred
Hours: Up to 6 hours/week
