Job Title: Sr Financial Analyst


Location: Remote to Reston, VA


Salary Range: $101,500 - $188,500

 

SUMMARY


Agile-Defense is an award-winning business with an immediate opening for an experienced Senior Portfolio Financial Analyst Lead in government contracting responsible for all project financial functions, including budgeting, revenue recognition, project setup validation, variance analysis, and reporting for government and commercial contracts.


The Senior Portfolio Financial Analyst Lead reports to the Sr. Director of Finance but works closely with the Portfolio Manager to provide the financial data and analysis necessary to ensure departmental milestones and goals are met. The Lead assigns projects and manages staff in the day-to-day performance of their financial responsibilities. This role identifies and reports financial risks that could lead to variances from approved budgets and offers solutions to mitigate those risks. Additionally, the Lead provides guidance and consultation to new or junior-level project managers on financial best practices.  This position requires collaboration with members of Finance, Accounting, Contracts, Pricing, and Procurement. The Lead also supports and instructs peers, equipping them with the knowledge and tools needed to maintain and present accurate financial information. In some cases, the role may require direct financial support of a few key projects.



JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Ensure every active project has an assigned Financial Analyst. Identify the level of resources required to provide adequate support to the projects in the portfolio.

 

·         Participate in contract kick-off meetings to ensure project setup optimizes accounting software capabilities for project revenue, billing, and reporting utilizing DELTEK Costpoint and Costpoint Business Intelligence. 

 

·         Ensure detailed estimates at completion for assigned (FFP) projects; review with project managers and provide to project accounting at least quarterly or more often if significant changes occur.

 

·         Prepare monthly program review presentations and, assist project manager as required, present monthly operating results to management.

 

·         Monitor and reconcile unbilled balances on a monthly basis for the entire portfolio.

 

·         Support development of cost proposals for bids, ROMs and equitable adjustment requests.

 

·         Ensure the Financial Analyst team is trained adequately and is meeting all expectations for the role:

·         Update monthly forecasts, perform variances analysis to the annual budget.

 

·         Review monthly project costs and revenue, validate monthly cost accruals, monitor actual cost

performance against plans/budgets, prepare variance analysis, reports and presentations timely to

project managers; identify areas for improvement.

 

·                    Ensure Monitor project spending and backlog including labor, Other Direct Costs, and Subcontract costs. Track and notify Project Managers and Contracts when achieving 75%/85% of contract funding.

 

·         Monitor contract funding, track commitments, develop projections and coordinate with contracts for

required notifications on limitations and requests for additional funding as needed.

 

·         Identify "at risk" funding and mitigation solutions.

 

·         Assist project managers with annual budget preparation, both direct and indirect budgets.

 

·         Develop budgets for significant cost proposals, review actual costs to budgets and provide summary

 to proposal managers.

·         Determine impact on direct projects for over/under applied indirect costs throughout the year to

ensure adequate funding and maximization of revenues and profits.

 

·         Review customer invoices to ensure compliance with contract requirements.

 

·         Assist in project close-out.

 

·         Validate project set-up for correctness and contractual compliance

 

·         Ensure timely distribution of monthly project reports.


Education, Background, and Years of Experience

·         Bachelor's degree is required, preferable in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

 

·         10 years' experience in Project Finance and/or Accounting in a government contracting environment.

 

·         Experience with large contracts that have multiple CLIN and revenue types.

 

·         Comprehensive knowledge of the processes and procedures in financial analysis.

 

·         Must be organized, detail oriented, motivated and able to multitask in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.

 

·         Ability to interact and communicate, both oral and written, with individuals across the organization.

 

·         Self-motivated and results-oriented dedicated individual with a strong work ethic.

 

·         PMP certification is a plus.


ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required Skills

·         Experience using Deltek Costpoint to include Costpoint Planning, project setup, revenue recognition, and billing setup.

 

·         Knowledge of most government contract types to include Firm Fixed Price, Time and Materials and Cost Reimbursable.

 

·         Experience with Microsoft Office suite, proficiency in advance Excel is essential.

 

·         Experience with Deltek Costpoint/Reporting.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental Conditions

·         This position is primarily remote, with occasional in-office meetings as needed.

 

·         No regular travel is required.

 

·         Work is generally performed in a home office environment, using standard office equipment.

 

·         The role is mostly sedentary, with minimal physical activity required beyond regular office tasks.

 

·         Occasional extended hours may be necessary during peak periods, such as month-end or year-end closings.

 

·         The working environment is favorable, with adequate lighting and minimal noise or distractions.

Strength Demands

·         Sedentary – 10 lbs. Maximum lifting, occasional lift/carry of small articles.  Some occasional walking or standing may be required.   Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
