Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Additive Technologist to join our team in Cedar Park, TX. This role will focus on Direct Metal Additive Manufacturing (DMAM) using metal powders. You will work hands-on with cutting-edge DMAM equipment, contributing to the development and implementation of new technologies, and ensuring the continuous operation of our production line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the installation and ongoing maintenance of DMAM equipment (GE Additive, Concept Laser, EOS preferred)
- Participate in planned and unplanned maintenance activities, including laser optics calibration
- Support the continuous operation (24/7) of the DMAM production line
- Contribute to the development and implementation of new DMAM technologies
- Manage and perform preventative maintenance, including laser system calibration
- Troubleshoot and resolve unplanned downtime occurrences on additive machines
- Identify improvements and streamline post-processing steps involved with additively manufactured hardware
- Collaborate with engineering on parameter development to increase print speed, part quality, and performance
- Train and develop other machine technicians to improve overall support capabilities
Requirements:
- Proven experience operating and maintaining DMAM equipment
- Familiarity with specific brands like GE Additive, Concept Laser, and EOS
- Understanding of machine design and development principles
- Electrical/mechanical intuition to solve machine-level problems
- Knowledge of optical systems and control
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems-level problems
- Willingness to travel (10% travel to and from TX to OH site)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with machine learning and automation
- Knowledge of computer-aided design (CAD) software
- Background in materials science or a related field
