Job Title: Histology Technician
Location: Augusta, ME 04330
Duration: 1 Year or Full time (options for 26 weeks contract)
Start Date: April 2025
Shift Schedule: 6:00 AM– 2:00 PM (Monday – Friday, no Nights, Weekends, or Holidays)
Qualification:
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: 3 years of recent Histology and Cytology experience. Responsibilities:
- Gross and accession tissue specimens into the computer system.
- Perform embedding, cutting, staining, and cover-slipping of tissue samples.
- Prepare special stains per pathologist requests.
- Assist pathologists with surgical, frozen sections, and autopsy specimen processing.
- Operate lab equipment and maintain specimen integrity during processing.
- Serve as a backup morgue assistant, assisting with autopsies, body closure, and clean-up.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory protocols, safety, and infection control procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and quality control of histology processes.
