What are the responsibilities and job description for the Histology Technician position at Jackson Healthcare?
Place of Performance:
- VA Maine Healthcare System, 1 VA Center, August, ME.
- Hospital & Laboratory setting.
Schedule:
- Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
- No Nights, Weekends, or Holidays
- Possible overtime shifts may be required
Duties:
- Process tissue samples: embedding, cutting, staining, and cover-slipping
- Prepare special stains for tissue analysis
- Assist pathologists with surgical, frozen sections, and autopsies
- Ensure specimen integrity and proper documentation
- Follow infection control and laboratory safety procedures
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Minimum 3 years of recent Histology & Cytology experience
- Must be proficient in specimen processing, staining, and tissue analysis
