Key Responsibilities
- Plan Development and Update:
- Lead the review and update of the existing Multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan.
- Ensure the plan meets the requirements of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and any other relevant regulations.
- Stakeholder Coordination:
- Engage with local government entities, emergency services, community organizations, and the public to gather input and ensure collaboration.
- Facilitate regular meetings and workshops with stakeholders to discuss progress and gather feedback.
- Project Management:
- Develop and manage project timelines, ensuring milestones are met.
- Monitor and report on project progress, making adjustments as necessary to stay on schedule and within budget.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure the updated plan aligns with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Prepare necessary documentation and reports for regulatory approval and audits.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation Strategies:
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential hazards affecting the county.
- Develop and incorporate effective mitigation strategies into the plan.
- Communication:
- Provide clear and regular communication to the Board of Commissioners and other stakeholders on project status and key developments.
- Develop public outreach strategies to inform and educate the community about the hazard mitigation plan.
- Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, Urban Planning, or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in project management, particularly in hazard mitigation or emergency management.
- Strong understanding of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and related regulations.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in project management software and tools.
- Master’s degree in a related field.
- PMP or other project management certification.
- Experience working with government agencies or non-profit organizations in hazard mitigation planning.
