Salary : $80,000-$90,000
The Safety & 5S Coordinator  plays a key role in creating and maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient work environment. This position ensures compliance with safety regulations, establishes workplace safety policies, and integrates 5S principles to promote cleanliness and orderliness. Additionally, the Safety Coordinator oversees safety-related budget requests, including equipment, signage, and services.
Here's what you'll be doing :
Developing and Implementing Safety Procedures
- Design and implement health and safety policies in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations, including OSHA requirements.
- Create and oversee employee training programs on workplace safety, hazard identification, emergency response, and PPE usage.
- Manage safety protocols during facility renovations and upgrades.
- Incorporate safety measures into operational workflows at each workstation.
- Collaborate with executives, managers, and facility teams to uphold safety standards.
- Provide guidance on compliance concerns and proactive safety measures.
- Conduct job hazard analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments such as DFMEA, FMEDA, and FTA.
- Embed 5S methodologies to maintain an orderly workplace, enhance safety, and ensure adherence through training and audits.
Monitoring and Enforcing Safety Practices
Perform regular safety inspections and audits of workspaces, equipment, and overall operations. Document and track findings, including near-miss incidents.Analyze trends and develop corrective action plans.Investigate workplace incidents, determine root causes, and implement preventive measures.Oversee safety and environmental service needs, including consulting requirements.Coordinate routine safety drills as per regulatory guidelines (e.g., fire alarms, security measures).Ensure proper removal of hazardous materials from accessible areas.Maintain and report safety-related key performance indicators (KPIs).Foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability.5S System Implementation & Upkeep
Lead company-wide 5S initiatives (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) to improve workplace efficiency and safety.Train employees on 5S principles and best practices.Conduct 5S evaluations and provide feedback for continuous improvement.Develop and implement visual management tools to support 5S standards.Encourage a workplace culture focused on organization, efficiency, and safety.Here's what our ideal candidate has :
Education & Experience :
High school diploma / GED required; Bachelor's degree in Industrial Hygiene or Safety preferred.Minimum of three years of experience in safety or environmental services, preferably in an industrial setting.OSHA-30 certification preferred (must be obtained within 90 days of hire if not already certified).Experience with Loss Prevention Systems is a plus.Familiarity with complex manufacturing environments is beneficial.Skills & Competencies :
Strong knowledge of safety regulations and functional safety standards.Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and / or Bluebeam preferred.Basic electrical knowledge is an advantage.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact at all organizational levels.Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced setting.Experience using hand and power tools.Work Conditions & Requirements
This person must be willing to travel up to 50% the time for the first 3 months to our other office HQThis is a salaried, exempt position based primarily in an office setting, with frequent exposure to operational, warehouse, and production areas.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.Physical activities include standing, walking long distances, bending, and crouching.Requires clear verbal communication to convey critical safety instructions.Visual acuity for data analysis, inspections, and machine operation.Moderate noise levels and fluctuating temperatures (50°F–100°F) in shop areas.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in designated work zones.Benefits : Comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision and more.
