Sr. Manager, Patient Advocacy Operations

Who we are:

Agios is a biopharmaceutical company fueled by connections. We thrive in a supportive, fun, and flexible environment full of people empowered to bring their whole selves to work. We care deeply about our work, each other, and the patients who count on us. Our teams cultivate strong bonds with patient communities, healthcare professionals, partners, and colleagues, which help us discover, develop, and deliver therapies for rare diseases – and make a difference in their lives. In the U.S., Agios markets a first-in-class pyruvate kinase (PK) activator for the treatment of hemolytic anemia in adults with PK deficiency. Building on the company’s leadership in the field of cellular metabolism, Agios is advancing a robust clinical pipeline of investigational medicines with active and planned programs in alpha- and beta-thalassemia, sickle cell disease, pediatric PK deficiency and MDS-associated anemia.

The impact you will make:

Agios is seeking a dynamic and outcomes-focused Sr. Manager, Patient Advocacy Operations to join our growing team. We are looking for a dynamic person who is interested in joining a passionate and innovative patient advocacy team, who together will partner with patients to bring meaningful change. What you will do:

  • Provide project management support for multiple patient advocacy activities, including patient advisory boards, patient advocacy publications, podcasts, and outreach events; this may include coordination with Agios Compliance as well as vendor management.

  • Manage the execution of Agios’ patient advocacy conference plans for PK deficiency, thalassemia, and sickle cell disease; participate in cross-functional team planning meetings; obtain compliance approval for related materials; attend virtual and in-person conferences, when needed.
  • Develop and maintain a master calendar of critical patient advocacy conferences, identifying participation opportunities and liaising with internal team members to secure appropriate cross-functional representation.
  • Support management of patient speakers at internal events to help colleagues understand the patient journey and impact of the diseases we research.
  • Support the team’s relationship management requirements by ensuring timely communication on projects and sponsorships with external stakeholders (patient organizations, advocacy groups, and vendors).
  • Oversee internal processes that enable efficient and compliant conduct of patient advocacy and engagement activities; manage, monitor, and track documentation stored on the patient advocacy team’s SharePoint site to ensure we meet compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with Sr. Director to drive agenda topics for patient advocacy team meetings; document resulting action items and push forward outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with Sr. Director to support budget management and vendor management

What you bring:

  • Established project management / business operations skills.
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ work experience with 3 years working in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry.
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work history experience.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment are essential
  • Proven success as a creative problem solver.
  • Ability to build and nurture strong relationships with both external stakeholders and members of cross-functional internal teams.
  • Positive thinker who acts with urgency and empathy.
  • Prior experience working in patient advocacy desired but not essential – enthusiasm and passion for making a difference is most important!
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, databases, or portals.
  • Experience with Veeva and VisionTracker a plus.
